People, Performance, Growth and Strategy
It is the People who drive Performance to deliver the Growth promised in the Strategy
Workplace and Team Coaching is a highly effective and agile performance improvement initiative that any Small or Medium-Sized Business can implement as part of its growth strategy and people agenda.
Founders, CXOs and senior management of start-up and scale-up businesses are having to balance and prioritise both the delivery of the growth strategy of the business and supporting the people in the business acting on that strategy.
Business Growth and Employee Performance
A significant proportion of management responsible for the success of start-up and scale-up businesses believe they need external help to help develop team performance, support an individual’s development, and provide an environment that actively encourages the achievement of aspirational outcomes for the business, the team, and the individual.
Win-Win-Win!
UK SMEs, SMBs, start-up and scaleup businesses are not alone in this challenge. The Predictive Index, CEO Benchmarking report concludes, “Dream teams get the work done—so you can focus on strategy.” Our summary of some of the key points can be found here.
Employee Wellbeing
In our article on employee attrition (the great resignation) we refer to a recent article in Harvard Business Review (sponsored by International Coaching Federation) which stated “Organizations integrating coaching into organizational effectiveness see improvements in retention, teamwork, relationships, and job satisfaction” and suggests that companies that embrace coaching “. . . are likely better prepared to quickly adapt, manage workforce priorities and support employees’ physical and emotional well-being”.
Tackling Burnout
In our recent article on employee burnout, we refer to an article by Greater Good Magazine that concludes “Overall, changing organizational cultures to be more purpose-driven, kinder, and rewarding for workers is bound to help prevent burnout. By stopping overwork, communicating organizational values, fostering social bonds, and being fairer, more appreciative, and less controlling, organizational leaders can make sure they are supporting, and not hindering, worker well-being.”
Our conclusion
Quite simply our people are what makes a growth strategy a reality. They provide the specialism and skills, the connection with the outside world. They make up the value chain, make change happen smoothly and ultimately, they are the people who deliver the success that the strategy promises.
Ensuring that the individuals and the team perform at their absolute best and not only drive the organisation forward, it is also essential that they are supported in securing their own life satisfaction in the process. This is critical to the success of any business.
